Stations 17, 16 and Lake Harmony Ambulance were dispatched to a working tractor trailer fire on Interstate 80 at the 287 West bound mile marker. While enroute chief 17 requested Penn Forrest for an additional tanker. Monroe station 41 was then added when district 16 failed to get out. The ambulance crew reported a large column of smoke visible several miles out and that the fire was in the East bound lanes. Engine 17’s crew of six arrived with the tractor fully involved on the shoulder of the roadway. Crews went inservice with one hand line and were able to control the fire before running out of water. Tanker 2233 arrived and supplied the engine to finish cooling down the truck. Fire station 41 was cancelled before arrival. Crews were on scene for around 1 hour.
