CULINARY MISHAP ON SKY DRIVE

Sunday, September 4, 2011  Companies were dispatched Sunday afternoon to a reported fire alarm on Sky Drive in Lake Harmony Estates. Upon arrival of Chief 17 and Ladder 17, it was determined to be a culinary mishap that set off the fire alarm. Ladder 17 crew members used positive pressure ventilation to clear the dwelling.


   


 

DWELLING FIRE IN POCONO MOUNTAIN LAKES DEVELOPMENT

Saturday, August 27, 2011  Fire Companies were dispatched to a reported dwelling fire off of Route 940 in the Pocono Mountain Lakes Development Saturday evening. Station 17 apparatus was just exiting the interstate as the tones dropped. The Rescue arrived on scene first and reported a shed fire in the rear of the property. Ladder 17 went into service with a booster line and knocked the fire down. As Squad 18 arrived, Ladder 17 shut down and turned the fire over to Station 18, as we were extremely low on fuel. Companies were on scene for less than one hour.


     



 

4 TROPHIES AT MINERSVILLE

Saturday, August 27, 2011  Lake Harmony wins Best Overall Fire Company, Best Ladder with Pump, Best Light Rescue, and Longest Distance Traveled at the Schuylkill County Convention in Minersville. As we were exiting Interstate 80 on the way home, companies were dispatched to a dwelling fire in Pocono Mountain Lakes development off of Route 940. Rescue 17 and Ladder 17 arrived on scene within 2 minutes. Members in attendance were Chief Ralph Lennon, Deputy Chief Steve Lilick, Engineer Rich Kennedy, Joe Lennon, Dave Washington, Bill Thomas, Carmen Cruz, and Joe Lilick.


   


 

MOTORCYCLE CRASH WITH INJURY

Friday, August 26, 2011  Friday afternoon fire and ambulance companies were dispatched to an accident involving a motorcycle and car on Route 903 in the area of the Pine Point Plaza. The driver of the motorcycle was transported to the hospital.


   


 

ATV DISPATCHED FOR SEARCH

Sunday, August 21, 2011  Lake Harmony was dispatched at 01:28 to a reported lost man in the woods off of Route 903 near Bella Mia Pizza. We used our Rhino ATV to search the surrounding woods. The search was terminated within the hour and turned over to PSP.


   


 

2nd ALARM REPONSE INTO PENN FOREST

Friday, August 19, 2011  Districts 16 & 17 were dispatched on the second alarm of a dwelling fire in Indian Mountain Lakes on Sassafrass Road. Tanker 17 & Ladder 17 were requested. Station 12 companies extinguished the room and contents.


   


 

MAJOR SPILL ON THE INTERSTATE

Friday, August 19, 2011  Friday morning fire companies from Carbon & Monroe Counties were dispatched to a reported tractor trailer fire on Interstate 80 at the 283 mile marker West Bound. Carbon County companies were recalled by Monroe County en route. Shortly after that, Station 17 was re-dispatched to a large oil spill on the highway. Lake Harmony responded with 1751 and Chief 17's POV with extra oil dry. Approx. 20 bags of absorbent were dispensed on the highway in the East Bound lanes from mile marker 282 to the bridge. Companies were in service for 1 hour.


   


 

LAKE HARMONY MEMBERS VISIT YUENGLING BREWERY

Monday, August 15, 2011  Members of the Lake Harmony Fire Company were invited to a private tour of the Yuengling Brewery in Pottsville. After meeting Mr. Dick Yeungling, we were given the full tour of the old brewery. After lunch and some sampling, we were taken to the newer Mill Creek brewery, where the majority of their production takes place. This was a great trip. Members in attendance were: Ralph Lennon, Steve Lilick, Joe Lennon, Bill Thomas, Carmen Cruz, Dave Washington, Jose Cruz, and Doug Barkholtz.

     



 

PEDESTIAN STRUCK BY VEHICLE

Thursday, August 4, 2011  Late Thursday night a young man was struck by a van on South Lake Drive near the toll booth. He sustained serious injuries and medics requested that he be flown. All three helicopter services declined the flight due to weather. The patient was taken to the hospital via ground transportation.


   


 

TRASH FIRE ON SOUTH LAKE DRIVE

Tuesday, August 2, 2011  On Tuesday evening a small trash fire involving a couch was discovered on South Lake Drive by a Lake Harmony Firefighter. The Chief was notified and had district 17 dispatched to the scene. The fire was quickly extinguished.
